November Presidentís Message

Friends,

We had a wonderful month filled with ìDays of Aweî and the ìSeason of our Gladnessî. We thank everyone who took part in services – especially Dr. George Kornfeld, who led the services, those who chanted Haftorot and those who accepted honors. Thanks also to everyone who erected and decorated the sukkah.

On behalf of my family, I want to thank everyone for coming to Mattís Bar Mitzvah and making his special day so joyous. We especially are grateful to those who took the time to learn part of the parsha, lain from the Sefer Torah and help lead services. We are very proud of Matt for his effort in mastering his portion and for his thoughtful Dvar Torah. I meant what I said about looking forward to Matt tutoring Noah for his Bar Mitzvah!!

Now that the holidays are behind us, we turn forward to the New Year, energized with the solemn resolve that we attested to in our prayers. Letís all come together weekly for Shabbat to refresh ourselves from the routine of daily life. On Shabbat we reflect on both the week past and the week to come – with friends and the One who established the Day of Rest.

Now we look to the coming winter and we see the warm glow of Chanukah beaconing us to rededication. Please put December 25th on you calendar, when on the first night - we will have our annual Chanukah celebration and dinner at shul – while most of the surrounding community is celebrating that other holiday.

Please watch your mail for an announcement about a special Congregational Meeting concerning dues. Also see elsewhere in this bulletin about a possible change of time for Friday evening services.

Have a happy November,

Harris Honickman
