President’s Message Friends, Now that winter’s
grip is beginning to loosen, the world begins to green and the songs of birds
fill our ears. Spring has arrived and life continues. For the Jewish
people, this is the season to count the Omer as we mark the days to Shavuot. On that day G-d gave us the Torah as a
way to find meaning and purpose in life. We will have an Erev Shavuot service and dairy dinner on
the evening of May 22. Please
see elsewhere in this bulletin for service times for the first and second
days. On Sunday, May 20th
at 3:00 pm, we will hold our Annual Congregation Meeting here at BHBI. It is very important that as many
attend as possible to have a quorum. If you cannot attend, please give a proxy to another
member. Proxies do not count
toward a quorum, so please attend if at all possible. This is my last
not to you as president. It has
been an honor to serve you in this role. Let’s all join together to give our support to my
successor, who you will choose at the Annual Meeting. Please offer your help by coming to
services, joining committees and helping with all the functions our synagogue
provides. Finally I want to
congratulate Aaron Schaffer on the great job that he did at his bar mitzvah
on April 28th. His parents, Stan
and Elaine Schaffer, and his sister Aviva and brother Jacob certainly must be
very proud of him. See you at shul, Harris
Honickman |
